'Rose of the Shires' Project - Northamptonshire
Between 2010 and 2013 the Trust delivered the 'Rose of the Shires' heritage project, working in 6 selected landscape areas across Northamptonshire. The project received major funding from Heritage Lottery and carried out detailed studies with over 30 communities to discover and record their historic landscapes and buildings. The key results of this work have been included in reports for each of the six areas, along with recommendations for their future management and conservation. These reports have now been uploaded to this site and can be found under the Northamptonshire Landscape link.
The project also expanded this website to provide historic mapping that covers the whole of Northamptonshire. The medieval and post medieval mapping for the rest of the County have been added to the original Rockingham Forest data and can be accessed through the 'Atlas of Northamptonshire' link. All the mapping and additional historic landscape information has also been published as a hardback book, 'An Atlas of Northamptonshire'. This is available from Oxbow Books at http://www.oxbowbooks.com/oxbow/an-atlas-of-northamptonshire.html
Thank you to all those people and schools who took part in 'Rose of the Shires' and helped in gathering information for the project.
